Toyota has confirmed that it will launch the new Prius III sedan in India, during Spring 2010 after it is unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo in January. Toyota is not expecting the Prius III to be sold in large volumes, but instead wants to use its world-renowned hybrid as a showcase for its hybrid technology.
The price for the Toyota Prius is not yet decided, however, internal sources suggest the hybrid could end up costing more than £25k/$40k. The hybrid, which starts at just over $20,000 in Japan, will cost nearly double that in India because of the high 105% import duty the hybrid, which is a completely built up (CBU) unit, will attract.
Toyota is hoping that the Indian Government will give special concessions to eco-friendly vehicles so it can price the Prius cheaply.

Porsche Boxster Spyder - Looks Cool!
Porsche’s current cool 2 seater roadster car, the Boxster is to get a performance makeover for the final few years of its life when a light and fast hardcore version called the Boxster Spyder hits UK car showrooms. The Porsche Boxster Spyder, revealed in these official Porsche pictures below, will make its motor show debut at next month’s Los Angeles Auto Show, before going on sale in the UK in February 2010.
Based on the current cool car that is the Boxster S, the Spyder gets modest power and torque hikes over the Boxster S, running instead the same 3.4-litre engine and tune as the current Cayman S, which develops 315bhp at 7200rpm and 273lb ft at 4750rpm.
Contributing just as greatly to this car’s improved performance will be the weight-saving regime Porsche has put it though. The Spyder is 80kg lighter than a regular Boxster S, and its 247bhp-per-tonne power-to-weight ratio compares impressively to that of a regular Boxster S (227bhp-per-tonne), a Cayman S (233bhp per tonne) - even an entry-level 911 Carrera (241bhp-per-tonne).
There are signs of that weight-saving programme all over this car. Up front, the regular Boxster’s daytime running lights and fog lamps have been removed and blanked off. At the rear, the car’s automatic roof system has been completely taken out, replaced with a lighter, manually-operated canopy-style roof and new “double-bubble” style rear deck.
Porsche’s weight-saving programme leaves an equally noticeable legacy inside the Spyder’s cabin. A pair of lighter and more supportive bucket seats take the place of the standard Boxster S’ chairs, and belt-like door pulls replace the regular car’s interior doorhandles. There is no air conditioning as standard and no CD/radio, although buyers will be able to option these systems. The car does feature electric door mirrors and electric windows.
Equipped with Porsche PDK double-clutch gearbox and Sport Chrono Plus package (which includes the all-important launch control), the Boxster Spyder will crack 62mph from launch in just 4.8sec – two tenths of a second quicker than a standard S. It’s slightly more fuel efficient than a Boxster S too, although because its roof must be removed for top speed runs, it has a higher co-efficient of drag and a slightly more modest top speed of 166mph.
The Boxster Spyder’s chassis will have a more focussed, sporting specification and set-up than a Boxster S’, although exact details on that remain to be confirmed. Expect a lower ride height, stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, and fixed rate dampers weighing less per corner than Porsche’s sophisticated PASM dampers.
Exterior design flourishes unique to the Boxster Spyder include restyled air intakes in its front valance and on its flanks, a new high-level brake light at the rear and an extended rear spoiler. On the inside, a body-coloured transmission tunnel and fascia accent set the car apart.

Cool Extreme Sports Lovers Car - Toyota/Billabong Ultimate Venza
Check out this cool Toyota Billabong extreme sports lovers car mash up called the Ultimate Venza. This new project was started by Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. which teamed with Billabong and Street Image to create the perfect active sports vehicle capable to take you the beach, lake, mountains, skate park or anywhere in between and have a blast.
This 2009 Toyota Venza was modified by Street Image in order to support top extreme athletes at future competitions. A new and aggressive custom body kit was added and this includes a unique Toyota/Billabong exterior paint design, fender flares and alloy wheels. The custom roof rack was designed by the manufacturer to accommodate surf, snow and wake boards.
Street Image also installed a front and rear hitch receiver and Grinch Winch in order to pull wake boarders into waves or snow boarders and skaters across flat land to a jump or rail. The kit is completed by the large Enkei wheels wrapped in Nitto tires. Behind these wheels, we have a new Toyota Racing Development (TRD) big brake kit that was added to provide superior traction and stopping power when driving off the beaten path or to the beach. Inside, the Ultimate Venza features genuine Billabong materials and construction: the seats are custom upholstered with wet suit materials and incorporate Billabong’s latest design scheme and colors while the headliner is an artistic color collage depicting Billabong athletes in action.
Also, the interior modifications includes “living” features that, according to the manufacturer, they will allow the athletes to conduct many everyday endeavors while on the go or at competition sites. One of the most interesting features would be the custom heated shower system with a 10 gallon capacity for rinsing off after surfing. A Verizon Wireless access point router was also installed, which will allow athletes to receive up-to-date surf or snow reports and other important information. Of course, the car needed a state-of-the-art audio and video equipment from Fujitsu Ten’s legendary Eclipse brand that features a multi-media DVD head unit, iPod interface, head rest-mounted LCD monitors, 18 speakers and 2,200 watts of power.

Eco labels launched for used cars (UK)
First used on brand-new cars and now launched on used cars. A new 'green' labelling system for used cars has been launched with the support of over 2,000 dealers. The colour-coded system is similar to the one already applied to new cars, with the labels making it easy for buyers to tell how economical the car is.
The label gives details of a car's make and model, as well as:
• The car's CO2 emissions in grams per kilometre
• The official mpg figure
• The estimated fuel cost based on 12,000 miles driving
More economical cars are distinguished with green labels while cars with high fuel consumption and CO2 emissions get red labels.
Dealers that sign up for the scheme can choose whether to label cars up to two years old or whether to label cars that have been registered since 2001, when the modern scheme of CO2 banding was first introduced.
However, 94% of participating dealers have opted to label old cars, too. Minister for Transport, Sadiq Khan MP, said: 'I hope as many dealers as possible will participate and I encourage used car buyers to look for the label when they consider what to buy.'
From its launch over 2,000 garages have signed up to the scheme including franchised dealers, independent garages and car supermarkets. Over 200 Ford Direct centres are using the label, however, Ford plans that all 350 members of its franchised network to sign up as soon as possible.

RHD Polos have higher CO2 emissions than LHD Polos (UK)
Right-hand-drive Volkswagen Polo diesels will have slightly poorer fuel economy and higher CO2 emissions than the left-hand-drive models sold in Mainland Europe.
This is because the oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter in the exhaust system have been moved to allow the controls to be switched to the right side of the car. The switch means that the 1.2 litre Polo Bluemotion, which has the lowest CO2 figure of any diesel car on sale in Europe at 87g/km, can't make the same claim in the UK.
The Polo's emissions in the UK are 90g/km, while fuel economy dips from 85.6mpg to 83.1mpg. The two 1.6 litre Polo diesels (74bhp and 89bhp) are also 3g/km worse off in right-hand-drive form, while the official fuel consumption figure falls from 67.3mpg to 65.7mpg. The Polo CO2 emissions in the UK are 112g/km, compared to 109g/km for Mainland Europe.
The good news is that both road tax and company car tax are unaffected by the right-hand-drive car's drop in efficiency – it's not significant enough to move the Polos up a tax band.
Other VWs are not affected by the transformation from left to right-hand drive because there is more bonnet space under the hood to re-route the controls.

The new Lotus Type 124 Evora endurance racer may be the most luxurious Lotus cars. The Lotus Evora Type 124 Endurance Racecar has been developed from the award-winning Evora road car and is built to FIA regulations and safety standards. The engine hasn't changed -- it's still a Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V-6 -- but its power has. Lotus says in Type 124, the six-cylinder can produce as much as 400 hp. Lotus replaced the standard six-speed sequential gearbox with a normal six-speed manual transmission. The Evora Type 124 will make its debut at the 2010 ADAC Nrburgring 24 Hours in May, and will continue competing at a number of various endurance races through 2011 as part of a factory supported program. Finally this car is very luxury cars..
